VISHANK BATTAR

Leader.

Hi! My name is Vishank Battar

I am a junior studying Aerospace Engineering at Purdue University. I'm currently a co-op for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation where I design and integrate mechanical systems into future aircraft programs. During my first rotation at Gulfstream, I developed code for a fuselage doublet lattice model and integrated it into a weight optimization tool. This has led me to develop an interest in creating designs and seeing them through to fabrication.

I am an avid leader. I use my boundless energy to empower those around me and effectively lead diverse teams in any setting. As a Resident Assistant, I've organized events that shared my passion for playing sports and built camaraderie with a floor of 46 first-year students. As Grand Prix Director, I led my hall's Grand Prix team of 7 inexperienced students to qualify for the annual race for the first time in 2 years. My leadership experience comes from a wide range of situations, but I've found that nothing satisfies me more than developing new relationships, effectively delegating tasks, and creating synergy with a group to achieve something greater than the sum of our parts.

In my free time I love to watch and play basketball, code, and learn about personal finance. I'm a huge proponent of continuous learning so I often spend my time reading, taking online classes, or trying new activities. One thing I tried recently was flying with a friend and I loved it so much that I'm currently working on getting my sport pilot license. I'm also currently taking an online bootcamp on web development, and this website is one of my first products! One thing I want to do in the future is travel more.

Here are some positive things people have to say about me and my work

Mark Chapman:

Manager, Advanced Structures and Materials Initiative at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation

"Vishank always brings a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and a creative approach to the office and to any problem-solving exercise. He is a quick study and has a determination to contribute to the overall goal. He is friendly and a welcome presence in the group."

Rachael Bailey:

Business Writing Professor at Purdue University

In regards to my white paper on burnout in the workplace:

" This is a truly impressive paper--the depth and breadth of research are impressive. Solutions are presented in a fair and nonbiased fashion, with equal weight given to each of the three required solutions. The background section details the roots of the problem and thoroughly contextualizes the solution discussion which follows. Authorial tone remains consistent throughout; the paper has been carefully proofread and does not contain any significant grammatical or mechanical errors. Its organization and formatting is outstanding; careful use of different levels of headings/subheadings allows for quick reader access; text boxes highlight significant points. Graphics are used appropriately and are thoroughly discussed in-text."

"Overall, really really strong work. I'm very impressed--this is the best paper at draft stage I have seen in twelve years of teaching this class!"
